Terms of use
By using PlumbMath you accept these terms. They are short because the site is simple: pages that compute and pages that list, with their sources shown.
What the site is
PlumbMath provides calculation aids and reference pages for tradespeople. Each tool shows its equations, the constants and table cells it uses, the documents they were read from and the date they were last checked. Each reference page names and links the source of every row that shows a value, and the date it was checked; a row whose source could not be opened says so and shows no value.
What the site is not
- It is not engineering advice, design work or a code interpretation, and it is not legal advice. Nothing on the site creates a professional relationship between you and the owner of the site.
- It does not know which code edition or which local amendments apply where you work. The code adopted where the work is done and the code official govern. Permits, inspections and the qualifications required for the work are set by state and local law.
- It does not select products, brands or contractors.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for verifying every result and every reference against the code adopted where the work is done and with the authority having jurisdiction before you rely on it, and for the work you perform. A result that seems wrong should be checked against the printed code; the methodology page shows how each number is derived.
No warranty
The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Codes, standards and catalogs change after the dates shown. To the extent permitted by law, the owner of the site is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of the site or reliance on its content.
Sources and copyright
The codes, standards and catalogs cited belong to their publishers. The site reproduces only the single values that decide a result and short factual references, each with its citation, and does not reproduce the code tables. The text of PlumbMath itself may be quoted with attribution.
Changes
The owner may change these terms; the version on this page is the one in force.
